Leadership & Allyship May 2025 Claremont Stadium, Co. Meath

In modern language ’ally’ refers to a person supporting a marginalized group and indeed as a sector we probably understand the concept more than most. But what does allyship mean to us in our own leadership journeys?

Our fantastic speakers Edel McSorley Operations Director at Mr Price Branded Bargains, and Guillaume Jacquinot, Advocacy and Campaigns Manager of The Wheel shared a wonderful conversation about the importance of allyship.

It was a very rich conversation with though-provoking stories shared. We particularly loved:

DEI should not be viewed through the lens of ‘kindness’, we are not doing anyone a favour – diversifying your organisation is a logical decision!

Demonstrating allyship means meeting people where they are, not expecting them to come to you. Be open to challenging the status quo.

Allyship is intersectional and accepting that early is the best thing to do. Allyship is being open to learning more about these issues from the people who experience them directly.

Thank you also to our hosts at Claremont Stadium in Navan, for providing such a lovely space for us for the event.
