The Citizens Information Board is the national agency responsible for supporting the provision of information, advice and advocacy on social services, and for the provision of the Money Advice and Budgeting Service.

The third edition of Managing Volunteers: a good practice guide has been produced by the Citizens Information Board to provide up-dated information on good practice for the wide range of voluntary and statutory agencies in Ireland, who involve volunteers in their activities. Areas addressed in the guide are:

  • Introduction to Volunteer Management
  • Preparing for Volunteers
  • Volunteer Policies and Procedures
  • Attracting and Recruiting Volunteers
  • Day-to-day Volunteer Management
  • Induction and Training
  • Dealing with Problems.

The information contained in this Guide can be used not only by well established organisations who wish to formalise or update existing practice but also new organisations and statutory bodies in the start-up phase of their development who are becoming involved in volunteer management.
