Ireland’s national association of charities, The Wheel, and the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) have launched a new website, www.icommunityhub.org, to foster collaboration between community and voluntary groups across the island.

The website will highlight examples of existing all-island practice while developing new opportunities for nonprofits to work together on shared challenges such as rural sustainability, developing the all-island economy, digital inclusion and achieving a just transition to a de-carbonised island. It will also be the home of Across Divides, a new podcast and web series featuring 36 guests from across the island’s regions and jurisdictions to explore the challenges faced by its communities. The first four episodes of Across Divides will be released on 3 May.

The new website is a key element of iCommunity, a joint initiative of The Wheel and NICVA, and it is supported by the Shared Island Unit in the Department of the Taoiseach, the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Reconciliation Fund, and the Northern Ireland Department for Communities.

Commenting on the launch of www.icommunityhub.org, Deirdre Garvey, CEO of The Wheel said, “The new website will help communities cross divides and foster a new era of community-led all-island collaboration. We hope that it will become a key touchpoint for community and voluntary groups in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.”

Seamus McAleavey, CEO of NICVA added, “this shared resource as a home for iCommunity is to be welcomed and will be valuable in supporting collaborative work in the sector. We would encourage people to take time to look at the diverse range of content as well as engaging with the wider programme as it develops to be a focal point for discussing critical issues, including economy, inclusion and environment across the island.”
